Prince Meyson as his popularly known, is a Nigerian based photographer whose name is more recognized than his face if you haven’t worked with him. I stumbled on Prince’s work via social media during my many rounds of looking through the beautiful pictures you’d find there. Seeing how different his works [fashion, beauty jobs] were from most of the others out there made me love and appreciate what I saw every time even more. Let’s find out more about Prince and what he does.
Prince Ubo Olagoke is his name(popularly known as Prince Meyson) and he is a celebrity beauty, portrait, fashion, and lifestyle photographer based in Lagos, Nigeria. To him, photography is my hobby so it means fun, it’s his passion so it means life, it’s his occupation so it means work… Photography is a grand expression of the variety of traits that make up who he is
.
Meyson was asked "Among your works, which one is your favorite and Why?" Surprisingly he replied "I can’t really pick any. After one shoot I am always eager to do another. I want my next to forever be better than my last. I don’t believe that it is possible to stop improving."
Below are some awesome photos by Prince Meyson
It is clear that Meyson uses his photograph to show people that there is brilliant talent in this country, in abundance. All we need to do is to access our potentials. i therefore urges my African Photographers to shuttle hard if we really want to make it to the top like Meyson. He lived by hustling, grinding and praying to get to the top. Although in succeeding in his chosen field without a formal education, he has taught us to make the best of whatever situation we may find ourselves in.
The lessons learnt from Meyson for African upcoming photographers are;
- Be open minded and allow yourself to evolve
- Persistence is key
- Practice
- Believe in the seemingly impossible
- If you put in the work, you’ll be ready when opportunity comes knocking
- Allow yourself time to grow
- Start where you are with what you have even though it doesn’t look like much
- Self-education is possible
His works are appreciated throughout Africa and outside its territories.
